In my current work I seek to discover a level of abstraction that allows me to be ultimately expressive. I alternate between figuration and abstraction, in the many layers of paint I apply, never choosing just the one or the other. Using representative imagery as a point of departure I gradually surrender to a predominantly abstract fusing of colour and form. Foreground and background continuously shift in this intuitive exercise of concealing and revealing. With a background in journalism the recurring narrative in my work is often socially or politically driven and always close to my heart.
